I am surprised that more people seem to host their own git service than a federated chat system (xmpp/matrix) or federated social media site like Mastodon. It is seriously useful to run your own on a domain you control.
Personally: Nextcloud, Kodi, Gogs, Apache2 all hosted on various Arm devices, all for my own personal use. Since I have only 4g connectivity, many of my servers are available as onion hidden services.
