Does this mean they just admitted the expect this war will not be a “decisive” victory and will continue for at least the rest of this year and I to next? So all their articles about Russia being about to loose, they admit, is bullshit. lol
Apparently Russia just told the United States that using depleted uranium shells in the Ukraine will be considered a nuclear attack, equivalent to a “dirty bomb.” Washington may be trying to hedge its bets.
The secret “Abrams armor” IIRC is made out of cement mixed with uranium or some crazy shit like that
Is it radioactive? I mean, I wouldn’t put it past the gits to use cannon fodder in cancer-inducing machinery, but it would be almost amusing in terms of hypocrisy
Depleted Uranium is known for its density, and it’s not quite as radioactive as U235. Still radioactive, but not “touching it will instantly kill you” sort of radioactive
It’s not as radioactive, but as a heavy metal, it is toxic regardless. It’s known to damage the kidneys, brain, liver, thyroid, and heart, even without any radiation involved.
But wouldn’t you have to ingest it somehow? Or is it absorbed into the skin?
When the tank gets hit, some particles would probably get knocked off and start floating around where you could inhale them.
Depleted uranium rounds supposedly contributed to a huge amount of birth defects in Fallujah.
Surely it’s still toxic? As all heavy metals tend to be
US military veterans say they’ve developed nasty illnesses from handling the stuff. The US military “investigated,” and found it was totally safe. So you can draw your own conclusions.
Lol they said agent orange was safe at the time too
Just speculation, but it could be that the armor is safe in the sense if just sitting there it won’t do anything. However when penetrated the DU is obviously going to break out and float around in the air. Before modern tank armor, a hit usually meant death, these days though if your ammo rack doesn’t go kaput you’ll maybe survive. And in doing so, be exposed to the toxic DU particles that just got sprayed everywhere.
Well, yes, but not “being exposed to it will completely degenerate your DNA and burn the patterns on your clothes into your skin” type of toxic
It is, yes, just not as radioactive
Western media: “PUTLER IS GROWING EVER MADDER, THREATENING TO NUKE PEACE LOVING DEMOCRATIC NATIONS FOR HELPING THE PEACEFUL UKRAINIAN INDEPENDENT NATION! WILL NOTHING STOP THIS MADMAN IN HIS QUEST TO END LIFE AS WE KNOW IT???!!!111”
What will be left of Ukraine by that time💀
If Russia can get close enough to the Dnieper on all fronts the tanks could be completely useless lmao
Tinfoil hat time: this is a PR move to preemptively counter the news of said tanks getting rekt. Media will be all “Well akschually these aren’t real Abrams, the real Abrams woulda deflected them missiles and loiters and shells riiiight back!”
I also remember The New Atlas essentially saying that this whole thing was a bluff and really only a means of trying to scare Russia into settling for less out of fear that NATO would be totally committed with masses of equipment(and even possibly manpower). This has… really corroborated that theory.
yea when the news about sending tanks over came out the first thing I thought was that Russia is probably gonna love spamming pictures of destroyed abrams/leopard tanks all over their media lol
Hunting tigers, leopards, and other big cats has long been a Russian specialty.
This is pure performance. Ukraine’s not gonna see those tanks before the war ends.
The US is an insincere ally, always has been, always will be. Throughout history the US has always provided aid in such a way that puts their “allies” in a more subservient position, sowing seeds of future crises to take advantage of.
The US also promises to send Abrams tanks (free, I think) to countries that donate Leopards to Ukraine, thus pushing Rheinmetall out of the European arms market and asserting American corporations as the master arms companies of Europe. Very interesting that Scholtz, the big idiot, hasn’t noticed this.
He most likely did, but don’t care, after all his masters are in Washington.
Rheinmetall is also pushing to build HIMARS under license in Germany, so they’re turning the European MIC into a subsidiary in a way. Double profits for US producers.
Funny in a cynical way, I just don’t get why European capitalists and arms manufacturers go along with this. They’re both getting fucked by high production costs and actively pushed out of the market, because all the Europeans are giving away their European arms and restocking with US supplys. Makes no sense to Rheinmetall and the rest as far as I can see
Sure, but here the superstructure is actively destroying its base. Unless we count eg the supposed German superstructural elements in government more as shaped by and maintaining the US base, not their domestic bourgeoisie. Given that eg Baerbock is a German Marshall Fund and Young Global Leaders creature, that wouldn’t be too far off the mark I guess.
Finance capital exports and its consequences
It’s likely the key figures in positions of power in Europe’s personal balances are being subsidized by the US bourgeoisie or are getting a cut of the profits from the industrialization of their countries one way or another. They behave as imperial capital not as national bourgeoisie.
They have no choice, the US is already occupying them.
If i understand this correctly, Germany didn’t want to send tanks until USA promised to do it too, but while Germany will send them asap, USA promised to make new ones but worse and send them in a year (maybe)? Lol
Yes, albeit it’s not uncommon for the US to send only baseline models out. The US is very protective with their weapons. Although don’t be surprised if they are canceled, the Abrams is logistically intensive, and probably would be a net negative to the war effort.
