Attached: 1 image There's an uptick of sign-ups on mastodon.social larger than on the day Musk bought 9.2% of Twitter's shares (that's the other peak). I suspect similar graphs across the entire Mastodon network (at least I hope so!)

Let’s hope it continues.

It’s time for the fediverse!

One important advantage the Fediverse has over commercial platforms is that it’s not commerically driven. Companies like Twitter need to show constant growth to their investors to continue receiving funding.

On the other hand, Fediverse simply needs a critical mass of users to be sustainable. As long as there are enough people to do development and to produce content to keep it engaging, it doesn’t need to keep constantly growing. This allows the Fediverse to operate on much larger timescales. Companies like Twitter will come and go, while the Fediverse will be around growing steadily.

I have seen mastodon rise to activity and then fall to lull multiple times. Sustained activity is required

“This is good for the Fediverse” is the new “This is good for Bitcoin”.

Except Fediverse actually serves a useful purpose and isn’t a glorified, ultra energy inefficient online casino.
