Is anyone else getting increasingly annoyed at the fact that half the posts to Genzedong, British Communism, etc are screenshots of anticommunists spouting nonsense? I get that the person posting is communist and they’re calling out those screenshots as BS, so it’s not technically anticommunist propaganda in itself but a showcase of anticommunist propaganda, but it’s still annoying when I’m trying to see communist content in a community marked as “communist content only” and get hit with literal Nazis justifying fascism, especially when there are dedicated communities for all kinds of anticommunist nonsense: ShitLiberalsSay, ShitFascistsSay, ShitAnarchistsSay, etc.
This is a Dengist community in favor of Bashar al-Assad with no information that can lead to the arrest of Hillary Clinton, our fellow liberal and queen. This community is not ironic. We are Marxists-Leninists.
If you haven’t already found it, this GitHub page is an excellent collection of sources about socialism, imperialism, and other relevant topics, made by @dessalines and others.
We have a Matrix homeserver and a private Matrix room. See this thread for more information.

TIME FOR A PURGE!! 🔥🔥🔥
Nah not really I’ve just being wanting to say that for ages.
I feel a bit guilty for posting about cheese now lol.
Take a Marxist approach to try to figure out why lemmygrad isn’t as successful as the pre quarantine genzedong sub, well the most obvious reason and perhaps the biggest contributor is the fact that Lemmygrad simply does not have a large enough concurrent user base, most of post here by the same few people who, albeit not desperately, are still trying very hard to keep lemmygrad afloat. Genzedong sub, staying true to the leftist “unity” meme, split into 70 different groups after the quarantine with the 71st group decided they will stay on Reddit anyway. Essentially lemmygrad lacks diversity, with a real concern that it might turn into a echo chamber of political opinion rather than a place of learning and discussion.
Yeah, I used to come here for news and stuff. To see what’s going on from the China side of things and find out what’s really going on outside of reddits MSM bullshit. Lib cringe shits fun and all but there nothing BUT that now and it’s getting old. Make a sub for it. Or a specific day as others have said.
Thanks. Finally someone said it. Since there’s no “lib cringe weekend” rule here it’s “lib cringe everyday” instead. We’re on our own website now, we should put all of that in its own board
@Comrade_rose@lemmygrad.ml it would pry be better if you could put a lot of these cringe posts to !shitliberalssay@lemmygrad.ml , !shitanarchistssay@lemmygrad.ml , or !shitfascistssay@lemmygrad.ml .
Even if they actually check their account I doubt they will see this in the swarm of post reply notifications they ostensibly get
The whole site has felt like rosegrad.ml the past couple weeks.
Thank you for bringing this up, we need to be more strict against low quality post, it’s smothering the community.
A designated page for these posts and strictly enforcing that is the only answer here. I have been coming to this platform less because of it, it’s definitely clouding out the other posts.
Idk I feel like at this point a better move would be applying the subreddit rule of lib cringe weekends so only 2/7 days were SLS style posts allowed. Then maybe once it’s bigger there can be a side community imo it’s too small for that since activity has died down after the sub wasn’t full on banned. I haven’t been on reddit for months but I imagine the sub is fairly active, I haven’t seen any posts on here about it being nuked.
That’s a fair point regarding overall traffic. The weekend idea would probably be a better idea in the process of growth.
Still doesn’t feel quite like the reddit community.
I generally agree, and on the subreddits it’s even worse because 80% of “questions” are deliberately obtuse bait that force people to interact with the same question for the 900th time.
Thank you for finally speaking up on this, I was annoyed too tbh. At one point, whole main page was reposts. Pretty sure a person looking at lemmygrad their first time would think it’s weird.
I don’t think they have any ill intentions, but making 40 (I counted) posts a day seems excessive. It seems they make 4-7 posts every 2-4 hours when they’re awake/not working? This is probably unhealthy, and I’ll blame the upvote system.
EDIT: I put together a compilation of screenshots of what I see on my screen sorting thru !genzedong and marked rose’s posts w/ red to illustrate the issue.
We should make a lib cringe weekend like on that subr*ddit
I have a sneaking suspicion that a user is scraping reddit posts to try and ‘seed’ the community. It seems like there’s a real person behind it, but they only check in occasionally given they only have like 20 comments and 3000 posts. I think reposting reddit posts unfiltered is a bit overbearing and floods out active discussion posts. Some of them are great, sure, but most are clickbait. We could stand to dial it back a bit. Just a bit.
I know exactly who you’re talking about. One of my posts were stolen and they even used the e x a c t same title I used on reddit smh 😒. I dunno, maybe they’re just not as comfortable with discussing actual theory, but their skimpy comment history is kinda strange.
I’m not accusing anyone and this is why I’ve never said this before but that is a legit network warfare strategy. Flooding a channel of comms with useless info or at the very least info whose content you control is referred to as jamming comms (I’m sure we’ve all heard this in video games). I have actually thought that Comrade rose’s posts are detrimental to the community for 2 main reasons (1) they have an outsized influence on the content which fills up the site and (2) the constant flood of posts from them creates a false sense that there is no need for other users to post because “the site is already busy”.
I don’t feel strongly enough to accuse them of doing it intentionally or maliciously but those are just facts. Also, some of the posts are great.
Edit: honestly I think putting a 3-6 post per day per community limit may not be a bad idea, but then again I am an authoritarian red fash tankie who knows nothing about how hard it would be to program that lol
I mean, everyone takes content from other places. I think the difference is using personal judgement to distinguish what’s going to add something to the discussion. I’m getting kind of tired of the Simpson’s posts at this point. We don’t need more Simpson’s posts unless it’s a real banger.

I upvote a majority of their posts I see because they’re decent. I’m not commenting on the intention or substance only the procedural side of things, and what they are doing is a tactic taught in the military intel community as a means of ensuring information superiority.
A quote from my book on the topic (a US military manual) “One of the greatest challenges in information operations is simply to know when one is under attack”. Again, not accusing anyone, but the fact stands that subterfuge is a key tool in the information superiority toolkit.
Another one “the [information] battlespace will become a place to play hide and seek”

(I’m gonna sound rude and pedantic but I mean no offense by it, in person I could deliver this in a more friendly way but the internet sucks for that)
I can’t be “right” because I am not proposing a subjective analysis, merely stating objective, independently verifiable facts. (1) having one member make an enormous amount of posts results in that member having an outsized impact, (2) that outsized impact makes the community vulnerable to their whims (well-intentioned or not they will steer the conversation- I am not making a judgment on which it is) (3) flooding comms is an actual tactic to ensure information superiority. I am not proposing a specific reason for any of this. It could very well be an overzealous person trying to contribute to the community to prevent it from dying (though I think this community is doing well now).
I simply do not foreclose the possibility that it may be something else.

Your last paragraph is exactly what I am referring to when I say “vulnerable”. This community is too smart to be swayed on substantive issues most of the time, there is very little groupthink on here, but that last paragraph is exactly the kind of vulnerability that prevents discussions on lesser known issues.
Based on the title of the North Korea post at the top right now it seems like they take content from ShitLiberalsSay on Reddit (among other subs) but then don’t actually put it in the SLS community we have on here for some reason
They also take from r/sendinthetanks, I had one of my old posts I made here reposted on lemmygrad as such with the exact same title. Not mad at all btw I’m happy to be scrolling through old reddit posts since I don’t use reddit at all anymore
The great thing about Lemmy is that we can block people.
Maybe admins should intervene here.
I don´t mind the posts that much but I agree with you. I love actual discussion/chatting on here. I also love seeing progress in AES. It’s good to have positive news as well.
That’s true. I understand your frustration but isn’t GenZedong basically a shitposting community?
/r/GenZedong was a mix of shitposting and serious discussion, I’d say, just concentrated in one subr*ddit because almost all of R*ddit is infested by liberalism. Since Lemmygrad is explicitly for leftists (in practice, seemingly mostly Marxists), it might be better to just categorize the posts into the appropriate communities to facilitate filtering
Also the reddit had a specific time to post lib cringe posts (weekends only) I think that would be better than making multiple lemmy subs just because of size as of now
That’s a good point. People could still make SLS-type posts to other communities on the remaining days
Online forums always devolve into circlejerking each other when it gets big enough, that’s just how it is
Solution: we all agree to be cruel to each other one special day a month 🤩🤩🤩
Yes punish me daddy
Kitten, daddies waiting in lemmygrad discord VC.
(Even as a joke this felt seedy af to say 😭)
YA BREATH STANK
I agree it’s better to stick that content in these communities you mentioned, as that’s exactly they are for, and that’s exactly the content that it’s expected from them. If we have a specific community for that content, why not put it there, right?
Hexbear have a community called the_dunk_tank where posts like these usually go. I think we should have a community like that too if people want to post people being dumb or malicious on social media.
This sounds like a good idea. A sub for all the chaff if you will.
GULAG
There we go, the names decided. Look at us, sorting shit out like a bunch of mad lads.
Exactly, content categorisation is the whole point of Reddit-like platforms!
My only knock against this is that Lemmygrad doesn’t feel like it has enough membership to be able to split off in too many different directions. Maybe one dedicated anticommunist sub but not three IMO
Really? Lemmygrad seems like it’s bigger than Lemmy.ml honestly.
I’d imagine they’re roughly the same size, but lemmygrad people are more involved in discussion. Any thread with lemmygrad users in it explodes in comment count.
I think I’m just going off of the OG GenZedong reddit traffic IIRC
