Crypto still has a ton of problems and this isn’t exactly the redemption, but credit where credit’s due, this move has nearly eliminated the sheer energy consumption and environmental burden of one of the most widely used cryptos.
I’m not a miner or a hardware person so take this comment with a grain of salt. IIRC from LTT, most mining graphics cards are perfectly fine reused. Mining rigs were designed for longevity, so the cards were never overclocked (often undervolted) or simply run at sustainable settings which don’t negatively impact the card.
Sounds like GPU-pocalyps time has come, though for a different reason that I thought it would :)

Yeah, if crypto is gonna be a thing at least now it won’t be a huge waste of energy.
