I think keeping it invite only is a sensible idea. Users can communicate from other servers (I assume) and wouldn’t be disconnected from the groups rooms.
A bridge between Discord and Matrix? (Although this creates a problem of Discord logging Matrix users’ messages so unsure. Matrix is far more private.)

Weird. Like this comment mentions, I can’t join any room or space because I can’t view the homeserver’s room list.
