England’s massive benefit is that they left the EU. Should a real leftist leader with ideas of leftist reform take charge, they will not be hindered by the neoliberal untouchable laws of the EU. That alone has great potential to improve the material conditions of the Br*ts.

They have the City of London, the entire UK subsists almost entirely off of London’s status as a global finance hub for banking, insurance, etc. The rest of it, ever since Thatcher destroyed the traditional British industries along with the unions, basically produces nothing.

New elections are quite probable at this point, but since UK system is like it is, it won’t change anything, Labour have been purged of any basedness much too thoroughly. Most probably burgeoisie will just try playing blairist card again to push for more palatable austerity like they always do.
I think most sane people would expect a general election but I don’t expect the tories to throw away their power because Keith asked politely.
Labour are a disgrace but I think they might have a chance given how poorly people think of the tories currently (whether that is accurate i dont think matters because the tories will be worried about it) and that’s why the tories won’t call a general election yet at least.
