Current Admin and AEO teams are corrupt. I was permanently suspended from Reddit for unspecified harassment. I was in good standing for a month after a week of suspension for report abuse. I expect Reddit would go in the same fate as Digg
The ads, the UI.
there’s transphobia all over the place
The user-base. Front page posts of angry rants wanting to destroy Ellen Pao because an anti-fat hate subreddit was closed.
Abundance of image macros instead of links/text posts. It seems like everything is an image, meme, or infographic now.
The tracking of the company. I don’t find Reddit to be that bad of a place at all, but the data collection really puts me off. I do still have an account, but I strive to use it less.
it’s full of evil white people.kill all whites.
Imagine yourself in the middle of junkyard, a plastic bag on your head, trying to befriend a horde of zombies…
Redditors.
I… well, you’re not wrong…
like all popular things it always panders to the lowest common denominator
that and the abject lawlessness of it all… some of the biggest losers hold power over much of Reddit and they indiscriminately shadow ban and outright ban people on a whim
they also selectively enforce rules as they continually make them up
and Conde Nast undoubtedly sells every bit of data people provide
That most of the time it’s a karma-grubbing rat race. Posts cater to the lowest common denominator, stir the pot, or both. This is of course made worse by the fact that some subreddits can block people without a certain amount of karma joining, and the algorithm does not give newer posts a fair chance at being seen.
And because of the whole karma-farming thing, the discussions on most subreddits are a joke. And I mean that literally, by the way. On like, 99% of all posts, instead of a discussion, everybody is trying to out-joke each other so they can get more imaginary internet points.
EDIT: A bad word.
They’re politically stupid
the hypocrisy
the deepest of circle jerks
shadow bans are dumb
Horrible site re-designs and soft-locking out mobile web-browsers with their nag-popups to install their spyware app. No, your site is not “better in the app” >:(
Right? I’m running Vivaldi on my desktop and it has a side panel on it that lets me run Reddit’s mobile web interface alongside whatever else I’m doing in my browser. But thanks to that endless nag, it’s unusable.
Lemmy runs just fine though…
It’s definitely better in third-party reddit apps though.
i used to use Reddit Is Fun which had to change its name to RIF Is Fun because Reddit threatened to get the app kicked off all the app stores for having the Reddit name in the app
so petty
I mostly use reddit via web interface on my desktop, and the mobile apps don’t really hold much of a candle to that IMO
the subreddits that are too big/becoming too big are the ones that are easiest to find. it’s kind of a common problem on social media platforms
