The web should be broken into nooks of a thousand gardens. The superficial web should be entirely smashed. The majority of the web should be crazy, personally hosted websites off of someones personal computer. There should be no more cloud, no more server farms. We should land an artillery shell into the middle of google’s, facebook’s, etc, warehouse and see what happens.
What do you think? You think with all the meth in the US we’d be the most revolutionary society.
It’s just going to rot your brain, no matter how great it makes you feel. You’re going to spend all night tinkering, busily spinning in circles and getting nowhere. By the end of it you’ll be jerking your head, looking for phantoms. That’ll be the end of it for you one way or the other.
I think it will come back. They have a memory of the Soviet Union. They have the largest communist party inside of capitalist nation. They’ve already nationalized, centralized their core economy, though privatized government-bourgeois relations still exist. Primarily they’re tying themselves to China. Capitalism insures itself with NATO terror. If Russia started massacring communists, China wouldn’t be backing those massacres up. They’re in a position were capital is forced to capitulate to socialism.
Socialism is guaranteed simply by not having an external terror campaign.
It’s insane Linux is still at 2%. There are distributions that are more user friendly than Windows. They come with preinstalled tools that meet user needs you didn’t even know existed. Linux, as it stands today, is better than Windows in every category, not even considering all of the reasons to not use Windows. So why is Windows still dominating the PC space? Maybe because this shift in layman-utility is only a few years old, you often have to go out of your way --requiring the knowledge of how to install an OS – to use Linux, pre-builds mask the cost of Windows and remove the choice, and a general bias against the unfamiliar.
if xi were to die tomorrow we’d have no idea who would replace him
Wouldn’t paying attention to China in a journalistic and academic mode be more effective to understanding China at much lower price than implementing a network of treasonous spies? It would certainly be less bellicose and more diplomatic.
US intelligence doesn’t seek to understand. It’s a corrupting agent. They don’t want to know who’s replacing Xi; they want to decide who’s replacing Xi.
What ever happened to the lawsuit about companies using copyrighted works without permission to feed their AI?
It’s legal to create derivative work. If the medium of creating that derivative was an AI you’d assume the AI work wouldn’t inherit the copyrights of the original. As long as it isn’t considered plagiarism, my derivative work wouldn’t be owned by the original. Weird Al isn’t breaking patent rights. His work is copyrighted. Weird Ai would follow the same except its work couldn’t be copyrighted.
The secret is that everybody is already a fascist, they know they are if by another name. The US is already full fascist and everybody who does not denounce their government unequivocally is a fascist. I mean no hyperbole. They literally all know. Nobody doesn’t know. I could name the cops the prisons the wars, the concentration camps.
You have to be defensive in the face of undue aggression. You don’t like some of the people, so what? I’m not against two movements, except some people are saying its lead by a CIA front. If you have any more insults you want to hurl to chill the only viable anti-war movement we’ve seen in over a decade I’m all ears.
Yep. People who want to treat socialism like an isolated clique are good for nothing. If you won’t organize with someone until they agree with your 24 point program then you aren’t organizing on a mass-line and will never build any momentum. The only red-brown alliance that has ever been is already in power: There’s plenty of people here more eager to do their bidding than organize a popular front. Ultra’s be damned.
I’ve always had a lot of respect for the greyzone and love to hear them. People forget how lonely the field was even 5 years ago. Jimmy Dore is far from a socialist but he’s got it right 7 out of 10 times. He’s covering a lot things better than most, a majority of which isn’t covered at all; even if some of the topics are things nobody wants to hear anything about. He’s been at the front of important issues like the democratic split and a force the vote movement, where he stood alone. I’m happy to hear them speak, at the end of the day, like it or not, they’re going to be the front of any credible organized left.
Chris Hedges too. One of the best authors and war corespondents of our time. There isn’t a single book he’s published that I haven’t read. Not a single person on this site is more worthy to be at the front of an organized left than Chris Hedges. Anyone who would speak against anything he’s associated with isn’t worth the time of day.
But wait, there’s more. It didn’t immediately occur to me that I had clicked on a reddit link and was reading something that was said in full seriousness. I was about halfway through the top post before I realized the guy wasn’t spooffing.
I have a hard time deciding whether the first or last comment is more revealing.
It’s pretty moderate. Look what happened to Baghdad and Iraq’s infrastructure in the Gulf War when Sadam refused to fuck off. Putin getting pushed out of Ukraine with a crippled military but intact country is more than the Russians deserve and they’re only going to be lucky enough to get that because of the leverage of nuclear weapons. If fusing atoms wasn’t a thing you could do anymore the USAF would have been dropping ordnance on red square 6 months ago.
Where do I start? First they just openly admit what they did in Iraq. Second, they read the top comment and conclude that it is a moderate response as per Iraq. But last, they think the only thing preventing the US from winning this war is the threat of nuclear escalation. The US can’t win a conventional war with Russia. It never could. The whole reason for the cold war was because the US knew it couldn’t win a conventional war against the USSR or an economic war against them if they were allowed to integrate with Europe.
Americans are capable of supporting so much and cheering on such destruction out of an over-estimation of their own military and economic abilities. Even now. Even after the total embarrassment of Ukraine, which followed immediately after the failure in Afghanistan, they still think that the US military is the strongest military in the world. There’s always some excuse to keep believing the bullshit.
I’m sorry but the US needs to learn a lesson and I hope it get’s the opportunity it can’t stop looking for.
It’s basically the same as wearing a kilt.
