I kinda grew tired of real time chats as i got older. Takes too much time to follow through it all, and nowadays gets constantly spammed with memes :( I guess old age crept up w me , i prefer the cozyness of taking my own time to “follow” a convo than live chat.

Yup, exactly this. I came to fediverse because i thought it to be free of people behaving like bots just pasting news and opinion articles
